Medical research can take years to complete, relying on small sample groups and in-person exams. This was an opportunity to transform how medical researchers conduct tests at scale using the iPhone and Apple Watch's built-in sensors.
Introducing ResearchKit: An open-source framework for building iOS-based medical research apps. ResearchKit makes it easy to sign up medical research participants and conduct studies quickly and at scale.
Dr. Helen Link Egger, Duke University Medical Center
In partnership with world-leading research institutions — like Stanford, Mount Sinai, and Massachusetts General Hospital — we created the first ever ResearchKit applications for asthma, diabetes, Parkinson’s disease, cardiovascular health, and breast cancer.
By helping medical institutions create quantitative data at a much lower cost, we helped reveal medical insights and discoveries at a pace and scale never seen before.
ResearchKit enrolled over 100,000 participants in its first few weeks, enabling clinicians to reveal insights into diseases that could have taken decades to unravel.
